What does your job entail?

As a developer, my responsibilities include defining technology-based solutions that strike a balance between meeting customer needs, ensuring sustainability, managing investment, and minimizing time-to-market. I also proactively seek out tools, ideas, and methodologies to help our team and product exceed our limits.

What do you like most about your job?

I feel that in the field of technology, all I need are the tools available on my laptop, along with some additional artefacts and internet access. With these resources, I can develop new features and improve people’s lives.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

The Japanese concept of ‘Kaizen,’ or ‘continuous improvement,’ has been a pivotal career lesson for me. It involves a commitment to self-betterment and openness to change, enacted through small, daily modifications.

The principles of Kaizen that guide me include:

Continuous Improvement: Constantly striving for growth through minor, regular advancements, goal-setting, and self-reflection.

Elimination of Waste: Discarding unproductive habits, negative thoughts, or harmful lifestyle choices that obstruct progress.

Standardization: Establishing routines that enhance my lifestyle and productivity, such as a regular sleep schedule or dedicated learning hours.

Problem-solving: Addressing issues at their root rather than just managing symptoms, this requires deep introspection and honesty.

Learning and Adaptation: Embracing mistakes as learning opportunities, adapting, and persistently seeking improved methods signifies a mindset of lifelong learning.

What separates Tapkey from other employers?

Tapkey is a small team with highly skilled individuals and a great mindset focused on innovation and collaboration. Additionally, at Tapkey, each one of us feel that our points of view directly shape the final product.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

When I’m not immersed in work, I indulge in several activities that add colour to my life. As an avid anime fan, I often lose myself in fantastical worlds. Additionally, I enjoy delving into the realm of science fiction through books, expanding my imagination even further. Nature is another sanctuary for me, where I love to go hiking accompanied by my faithful dog. I also find immense satisfaction in creating and constructing my own DIY projects. Lastly, exploring new places is always on my agenda, as it provides me with fresh perspectives and experiences.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

Even though I am Colombian I do not like drinking coffee, all of my friends and family think it is a betrayal. I just think I have not been able to acquire this taste.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world” it is important to be kind, to encourage others to pursuit their goals, to develop empathy in a constantly changing world. It is like a way of leading by example.

If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Oda – I really want to know the end of One Piece.

Three words to best describe you.

Positive, Curious & Analytical

What is the one thing, you can’t live without?

Music in all the ways, music has been so important in my life.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I wish I could learn everything like in Matrix, where you just plug a cable in your nape and all the knowledge is transferred in minutes.
