Martina starts her day with a relaxing cup of coffee and a chat with colleagues. “Coffee first,” she laughs, before checking her emails and planning the day. Using Microsoft TO DO’s, she keeps track of her tasks and sets priorities – ensuring structure and efficiency. The morning exchange with colleagues and a few jokes are equally important constants that can’t be missed. They also contribute to a positive work atmosphere – and that’s part of the HR gig, after all.

The Many Hats Martina Wears

If Martina had to explain her role in HR and back office to a child, it would go something like this: “I’m like a magical helper who makes sure new friends come to Tapkey and feel welcome. I help them grow, make sure everyone follows the rules, has what they need, and keep track of the treasure to ensure we can buy all the things we need and pay our bills.” But that’s just the start. Martina wears many hats. She recruits new talents, manages the team’s well-being, ensures organisational processes run smoothly, and on top also manages to keep an overview of our accounting. Whether it’s bringing new talents on board, supporting existing employees, or handling admin tasks – Martina switches between her many roles with ease.

Always One Step Ahead

A dynamic team like Tapkey is always moving. Martina adapts flexibly, whether she’s dealing with Finance & Reporting or HR & Personal Development. She emphasises that her adaptability is crucial for meeting the ever-changing challenges in a growing company like Tapkey. A strong network and continuous learning help her stay ahead of the curve.

Communication, Communication, and More Communication

Although much work is done remotely, “Talking to each other” remains Martina’s favourite tool. “And laughter helps a lot too,” she adds. Communication is key. Despite the challenges of remote work, she ensures that personal interaction isn’t lost. Regular meetings and open communication channels are essential for strengthening team spirit and avoiding misunderstandings. Martina relies on direct conversations to quickly resolve issues and ensure that every employee feels heard and valued.

As a generalist, Martina strives to be knowledgeable in many areas. “The challenge is to always stay on the cutting edge. Especially in Finance, HR, and technology, things change regularly.” By talking to experts and continuous learning, she stays up-to-date. Martina describes the Tapkey team as “a wonderful bunch of kind, funny, innovative, international, and very smart people.” She significantly contributes to strengthening the sense of togetherness and promoting the company culture. A particularly impactful moment was the Christmas feedback from Gregor: “The team is very important to Tapkey, and you are very important to the team.” She is also proud of successfully recruiting new employees, introducing new meeting formats, and digitising the accounting system. These achievements demonstrate how Martina’s dedication pays off and positively impacts the company. She has been instrumental in forming a cohesive and effective team that shares Tapkey’s values and goals. Her ability to implement new processes and optimise existing ones has significantly improved the company’s efficiency and transparency.

Colourful and Creative

If Martina had to compare her daily routine to a song, it would be “She’s a Rainbow” by the Rolling Stones. “My day at Tapkey is rainbow-coloured and never gets boring,” she says with a smile. This metaphor perfectly captures it: Martina’s work is varied and diverse. Each day brings new tasks and challenges that she tackles with creativity and dedication.

Her brainchild “Company Breakfast”, which is deeply beloved by the whole company, is hard to top. But the next fun activity is already in the pipeline: “Feel like Home. Come to the office for a day exactly as you sit at your laptop in the morning at home.” This idea aims to encourage the team to feel even more comfortable and authentic at the office. It’s an invitation to blur the lines between home and workplace and create a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
