He plays a vital role in ensuring our customer’s happiness, assisting customers with any questions or concerns they may have. Our customer support, Matteo! In our Team Spotlight, he tells us about his job and his most important career lesson so far. He also reveals what he’d like to have as a superpower.

What does your job entail?

I’m responsible for the customer support at Tapkey, especially technical concerns. All requests end up with me—no matter if it’s advice, problem-solving, or questions about the order. I usually take care of these on my own, but in special cases I ask the advice of my colleagues from the corresponding department or forward the request.

What do you like most about your job?

It’s probably the successful solving of more complex, technical problems. When you have gone step by step in search of the cause and finally find the solution—that is a satisfying feeling.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

You often underestimate yourself and learn what you are really good at in your professional life.

What separates Tapkey from other employers?

Definitely the working atmosphere. The cooperation with my colleagues and superiors is very natural and unbiased, the team cohesion is strong—that’s how it should always be.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Eat good food and cook good food, but preferably the former. In the winter, it’s off to the slopes on my skis and, in the summer, out on the roads on my motorcycle. Apart from that, I like to deal with pretty much everything that has to do with technology and IT.

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

I can honk with the palm of my hand and the pinna of my ear—sounds funny, but it’s true.

Do you have a motto or personal mantra?

I try, as far as practical, to avoid all forms of exploitation and cruelty to animals capable of suffering for food, clothing and other purposes and therefore eat, among other things, a purely plant-based diet.

If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Steve Irwin. His commitment, his character, and his experiences are so appealing—I would love to experience that in person.

Three words to best describe you.

Food, Creative, … Food?

What is the one thing, you can’t live without?

I have heard from acquaintances that they have temporarily lost their sense of taste as a result of a Covid infection. If I couldn’t taste good food anymore—where’s the point in life?

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Population-wide mind control. Not for selfish purposes, but we cause so much destruction and suffering worldwide every day, whether to humans, other animals or the environment, that we desperately need a different worldview that I would plant in everyone’s heads 🙂

Favorite book/podcast?

As a podcast I just have to recommend “Gemischtes Hack”, for me it’s pure entertainment and hits my nerve. For books, Frank Herbert’s “Dune—The Desert Planet” has fascinated me lately like nothing has in a while. If you’re looking for a true sci-fi epic on the scale and quality of “The Lord of the Rings”, you’ll find it here, as well as anyone who likes good books.
